Fairy Tales Stories

Fairy tales: Kids Best Friend

Fairy Tales are an instance of a folklore genre that takes the form of a short story. Such stories typically feature entities such as dwarf, dragons, elves, giants, goblins, griffins, mermaids, talking animals, unicorns, or witches and usually magic or enchantments. Fairy tales occur both in oral and in literary form.

They are often traditional story written for children and were passed down from one story-teller to another before being recorded in books. Like all stories, a fairy tale ends with a moral. It makes children believe that if they are good, behave well, and be kind and helpful; then their life will never be sad. And it will always have a happy ending.

What is the purpose behind it?

Fairy tales are meant to entertain. But that is secondary now. Unlike other novels of today’s generation, the primary purpose a fairy tale is to give a moral in a way reader will remember. They exist to teach a clear lesson. Their primary purpose is to pass along wisdom, origin stories, religious truths, etc. as a part of cultural identity.
In our current era, there is much cultural appropriation involved in the re-telling or adaptation of cultural fairytales. For most children, these stories of imagination and fantasy are their first introduction to literature. Some of these aspects will remain with them throughout their whole life.
As a literary form, fairy tales seem to defy conventional standards of definition. As they incorporate many different styles of stories. Under most definitions, fairy tales tend to encompass a much broader scope of plots and structural elements.

They mainly teach you a life lesson, even though it is fiction. It gives a crystal clear moral of what needs to be done. And, what we should do to keep making this world a happy place.
